Conference Presentation

The Role of Analytics in the Digital Twin

June 18 - 11:25 AM to 11:45 AM
Presented by Gavin Jones, Application Engineer

The presentation will first discuss the role of analytics in the Digital Twin and the industrial challenges and benefits that come from it. Then it will present how Uncertainty Quantification and other analytics are the solution to building and running an efficient and accurate Digital Twin. These analytical solutions are then broadened to the Digital Engineering Ecosystem, which consists of the Digital Twin, the Digital Thread, and the Digital Tapestry.

The presentation will include a demonstration example using SmartUQ software of the creation of a response surface that can be calibrated using real world data. Various analyses conducted in SmartUQ using the calibrated model (emulator) will be demonstrated including sensitivity analysis and an uncertainty propagation study to determine model form error.

Conference Short Course

Introduction to Probabilistic Analysis and Uncertinaty Quantification

June 17 - 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Presented by Gavin Jones, Application Engineer

Experienced practitioners who construct complex simulation models of critical systems know that replicating real-world performance is challenging due to uncertainties found in simulation and physical tests. This course will discuss the types of uncertainties and how to quantify these uncertainties through the use of state-of-art statistics and machine learning methods. This course will discuss the broad applications these probabilistic techniques have in analyzing numerous forms of engineering systems including Digital Thread/Digital Twins.
