Presented by Dr. Mark Andrews, SmartUQ UQ Technology Steward
Dr. Andrews is responsible for advising SmartUQ on the industry’s UQ needs and challenges and is the principal investigator for SmartUQ’s project with Probabilistic Analysis Consortium for Engines (PACE) developed and managed by Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI). Before SmartUQ, Dr. Andrews spent 15 years at Caterpillar.

As design cycles tighten and engineered systems become more complex, companies are challenged to get the most out of their simulation and testing capabilities. There are a number of challenges to leveraging CAE models, and statistical methods can provide a powerful and viable solution.

This webinar will focus on strategies for handling three classes of CAE modeling challenges:

  • Insufficient or inadequate sampling of a design space
  • High computational expense of simulations
  • Disagreement of simulation models with physical tests
  • Webinar attendees will gain an understanding of how statistical methods can help increase early design phase efficiency, decrease the number of costly physical tests required to validate or calibrate CAE models, and reduce risks while increasing confidence in simulation models.
